Re: modem in linux

The modem in your laptop is most likely a winmodem, a sofware modem. It works great with windows, but is a pain in the butt to get working with linux (www.linmodems.org if you want to try). Do yourself a huge favour and buy a proper hardware pcmcia modem, but make sure it's on the supported list first. You will save yourself some hair pulling.

check http://www.linux-on-laptops.com/compaq.html - there are few articles about Armada laptops.

Re: modem in linux

I would say get a pcmcia modem that is on the supported hw list, but If you are ready to spend time and energy on it have a look at the following ... it may work for you ... notice the may !

Re: modem in linux

Your best bet is http://www.linmodems.org

IF there is a driver, its there.
