upgrad RAM from 1Gb to 2Gb

Hi, I am going to upgrad RAM from 1Gb to 2Gb on
rp2470 with 11.11. Is there anything that I need to do after the hardware upgraded?

Thanks for any help.

Turn the power back on.

That should do it :)

Yes, you should increase your swap space and re-confgure the kernel.

You need to tune maxswapchunks parameter.

Also you may need to look at dbc_max_pct and dbc_min_pct kernek parameters.

Nothing. Turn it on.

Perhaps run a memory report with the script I'm attaching to make sure all chips are functional.

Re: upgrad RAM from 1Gb to 2Gb

If you have pseudoswap enabled, swapmem_on=1, then there is nothing really required. If not, and you have less than 2GB of device swap configured, you will need to add more device swap. The system will never use the additional memory usless there is sufficient swap (or pseudoswap is enabled). That covers what you NEED to do now for what you SHOULD do. Examine parameters related to buffer cache and decide if they shouldn't be tuned to take better advantage of the larger memory. Also, values like maxdsiz, maxssiz, maxtsiz, shmmax, and nproc might now reasonably be increased.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: upgrad RAM from 1Gb to 2Gb

Tammy,

you may want to make sure that swapmem_on is set to 1, check using
# kmtune -q swapmem_on

or you will probably have to add swap space in order to be able to utilize the additional memory.

Note that you should put larger DIMMs in "lower" slot pairs (0a/0b), if you have DIMMS of different sizes.

Tammy,

If you have glance run it in advisor mode to see if it recommends any kernel changes..
