Loading 10.20 on an A500 server

Although I realize that it is probably unsupported, has anyone had any experience installing HP-UX 10.20 on an A500 server?

When booting from the 10.20 media, I get the following messages:

Booting...
Boot IO Dependent Code (IODC) revision 1
Hard Booted.
ISL Revision A.00.38 Oct 26, 1994
ISL booting hpux (;0):INSTALL

After a short while the system returns an ISL> prompt.

Any information would be appreciated.

You proofed the theory that it does not work!
You are not able to run hp-ux 10.20 on an A400/500.

Hello,

As far as I know, there should be no problems installing HP/UX 10.20 on an A500 server.

When you boot from the 10.20 CD, you are asked whether you want to interact with the installation. Enter no, and you would not be presented with the ISL> prompt. The installation continues automatically.

Hi,

As i know, if you have PA8500 processor you can use 10.20 but if you have PA8600 you must have 11.00 . Check your processor(s) type ...

Just two reasons why the A400/500 does NOT support hp-ux 10.20:
The PDC of an A400/500 supports only 64 bit hp-ux
hp-ux 10.20 supports no memory holes like in the A400/A500 address map

Hi David,

A5xx supports only 64 Bit of UX 11. Take a look below for the system supported under ux 11

The only supported A class server that will run 10.20 is an A180.

A5xx only supports 64-bit HP-UX. 10.20 is 32-bit.
