Hello. I am trying to get a feel for this machine. I have no hd or os. I am trying to run offline diagnostics on this machine. I have a laptop connected to the server and I see the console. How do I boot from the cd in this way? Is it possible? Any help would be great.

I guess you new to HP9000. If you have support plus CD insert it.
If you connect console login to MP and type CO for console access. (the default user name password for MP is Admin - case sensitive). Do "sea" command from BDC to find hardware paths. then boot from the CD using "bo H/W path" With interact option.
There you find some offline diagnostics.

If there is no HD or OS, what you like to diagnose? In general offline diag is meant for service professional only.

no hd no OS... bit like a car without an engine! You can boot from CD (instalation & recovery disk).

What do you want to achieve without a hd or OS?

Or you can boot accross the LAN if you've an Ignite/Boot server.


Say.. HP-UX vets, can I esentially have a "diskless" HP-UX node ? I can on Solaris/SunOS.
