Re: stable storage

PDC performs self-test and then tests hardware attached to the system. It initializes the console and copies the boot path and autoboot flag into memory. Then display a menu if autoboot is disabled or display the "command boot" if it is enabled.

Hope this help you :-)

Re: stable storage

HGi Yogesh,

pathes like pri, alt, console, autoboot autosearch are in a nvram or a flash. -a remanent memory-
the AUTO file with the boot string is in the LIF of the disk.

What is your need exactly? Consult them?

Re: stable storage

Hi,

The answer to your last post is
stable storage

Don't get confused between the AUTO file which is a part of LIF area on the boot disk
& autoboot information.

Autoboot information is the only information
which controls the autoboot this way:
Autoboot enabled then
"Press any key within 10 seconds"
After this message the secondary loader (hpux) starts loading automatically.
While
Autoboot disabled then
"Press any key within 10 seconds"
After this message the server stops at
ISL>
prompt irrespective of you press or don't press any key.

Hope this helps

the string "hpux -lq " for instance is in the AUTO file in the LIF.- usually it is only "hpux"

The autoflag, the autosearch, the pathes pri/alt/console are in a memory stable storage

Re: stable storage

Hello Yogesh,

It├В┬┤s stored in a NVRAM in the backplane (or proccessor board, depending on systems) with some other information (like SUSAN NUMBER, CPU ID, ...) You can configure some parameters and others are only configurable by an HP engineer.

Re: stable storage

Hi Yohesh,

Answer to your Question is "Stable Storage" which is Option no.4 of your question.

Stable storage is nothing but the NVRAM and is maintained even after the Server is Switced Off.

Hope that satisfies you.
