Changing IP addressing of SAN Switches

I've got the Brocade SAN switches built into the P-Class blade chassis (4GB) and 4/16 B-series switches.

If i change the IP address used for management of the switch, do i need to reboot the actual switch (causing inturruption to the SAN Fabric)?

I don't use any fibre over IP etc, all my servers that use the SAN(s) have fibre cards in them and are directly connected to the 2 fabric's.

Thanks for your assistiance. Points will be assigned.

Re: Changing IP addressing of SAN Switches

No reboot is necessary - just run "ipaddrset" (this is not kids stuff ;-)

Maybe I'm misunderstanding or you meant IPFC instead of FCIP, but:
- those switches do not support FCIP (FC over IP)
- if you don't need in-band management (IP over FC)
-- don't set an IP address on the internal FC interface or
-- make sure it is at least in a different IP subnet

Re: Changing IP addressing of SAN Switches

Uwe,

Thanks for the response. Is it the same command in both the CLI and through the console port?

I take it the command is also the same on both the 4/16's and the P-class enclosure SAN switches?

Re: Changing IP addressing of SAN Switches

Yes, the Command Line Interface is the same for Telnet/SSH or the serial port.
The command "ipaddrset" exists at least since V2. In V1 I've always used the front panel so I can't tell for sure.
