Changing the Domain ID of a SAN switch - implication
Hi,
We are merging 2 SANs, and have to change the domain ID of one of the SAN switches. What is the implication of doing this? Will all the hosts have to remap their LUNs?
Thanks
Andrew

Re: Changing the Domain ID of a SAN switch - implication
At the very least, the switch will have to go off-line while the domain ID is changed.
If you are using the oldfashioned "switch, port" zone targets, those will have to change. If so, this is a Good Time to start using port World Wide Names (pWWN) for zoning targets.
The zone configurations will need to be the same on both sub-fabrics before they merge: Aliases, Zones...
I hope you have redundant fabrics, so you can work on one side at a time.
Some operating systems may simply require a rescan of the bus. Others will have to remap.
