OneView for VMware vCenter - how to upgrade from 8.0.0 to 8.2
I have an installation of OneView 3.0, and OneView for VMware vCenter 8.0.0 and I am trying to figure out where to download the .star file needed to perform the upgrade to version 8.2. The installation guide, release notes and user guide are completely missing the sections on how to upgrade the appliance. I have downloaded the version 8.2 software, but all the download gives me is a new .OVA file which i could use to deploy a new appliance, but I am hoping there is a way to download this file so I can upgrade the existing appliance!

Re: OneView for VMware vCenter - how to upgrade from 8.0.0 to 8.2
Hi, I have exactly the same issue here and would be very interested in a solution.
I also tried to export a backup of the 8.0.1 appliance and import it in the new 8.1, but for some reason once deployed it doe boot, but never shows a webinterface...

Re: OneView for VMware vCenter - how to upgrade from 8.0.0 to 8.2
I ended up just replacing the OV4VC appliance with the new version by doing the following:
Logging into the old appliance and removing the vCenter Server.
Power down the old appliance.
Deploy the new appliance.
Log into the new appliance and re-registering the vCenter Server.
I had to go back and add the enclosures and credentials again, but our environment is really not that big so it did not take that long.
It's unfortunate that they offer the option within the appliance to upgrade, but do not seem to offer the upgrade file (or at least do not make it easy to find!)

Re: OneView for VMware vCenter - how to upgrade from 8.0.0 to 8.2
Upgarde Steps :
These are steps to upgrade from 8.3 to 9.0 :
a. For 8.0 & 8.1 systems, do the following workaround beforehand:
i. Login to OV4VC appliance.
ii. cd /usr/bin
iii. mv gpg gpg.orig
iv. vi gpg & put following content:
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/lib64:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
/usr/bin/gpg2 "$@"
v. chmod +x gpg
vi. cd /
vii. run gpg to verify it works & doesn’t throw any error.
- Download STAR file.
- Go to admin UI > Settings > Click Upgrade.
- Actions > Upload update package.
- Once uploaded you may have to refresh browser & then click Actions > Perform update.
- Click Check.
- Once, all tests pass, click Begin update.
- Note that there will be an auto reboot of OV4VC during the process.
Once back online, open new browser session to login to admin UI
