ERROR: The install server's IP address is not set.
Hi Experts,
I post a question as the following on how to boot into ignite recovery shell without user interaction: http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=988433
With a great help from here, I figure out how to do so. But there is still a problem. To make this work, I have to specify server information by using instl_adm:
hp01:/var/tmp/wifs_new instl_adm -d -F WINSTALLFS
server="10.10.1.24"
_hp_keyboard="PS2_DIN_US_English"
is_net_info_temporary=true
dhcp_class_id="opforce"
run_ui=false
control_from_server=true
env_vars += "
INST_ALLOW_WARNINGS=10
INST_BATCH_MODE_TIMEOUT=5
INST_DEBUG=5
"
server information have to be given, and correct; otherwise, it will run into the following problem and disable the batch mode:
ERROR: The install server's IP address is not set. See instl_adm(1M) on how
to set the default on the server.
Failed to startup networking, user interaction required
Is there anyway not to specify server information through instl_adm at the beginning, instead of obtaining it by broadcasting dhcp discover packet? Thanks!

Re: ERROR: The install server's IP address is not set.
Dawn,
as far as I am aware there is no way around this. The server info must be present and correct.
What is the problem with using instl_adm?

Re: ERROR: The install server's IP address is not set.
Dawn,
Answer to your question: no.
You must boot an Ignite client off its built in NIC card. Where Ignite download is done is determined by inst_adm tool. That must be to a fixed IP address.
By definition, a server, to server really needs a fixed IP address. DHCP doesn't cut it for a truee server.
