dd write of temp. boot LIF to tape fails
Hi,
I'm experiencing aborts of make_tape_recovery.
Final words from the latest recovery.log:
# tail -10 /var/opt/ignite/recovery/latest/recovery.log
1488+1 records out
I/O error
ERROR: /usr/bin/dd if=/var/tmp/uxinstlf.recovery of=/dev/rmt/0mn bs=2k failed
to write LIF onto tape.
ERROR: Failed to generate LIF on tape .

I hope it isn't something stupid like a flipped write protection switch on the tape case.

This can happen due to a faulty drive or DDS tape. Use tar to write a test backup to the drive and ensure all are fine.

Hi Ralph,
The issue seems to be related to the problem experienced by drive in writing to media. This could be simpy due to media or drive problem. Try cleaning drive or replacing drive if available and then retrying backup.
