Moving and RX8640 to a new datacenter need help with Vpars
Hi,
I have an RX8640 with (2) cells. One cell is set up with an NPar using local disks. The other has 4 Vpars booting from SAN, We are moving this box to a new Data center. The SAN drives will be replicated to the new site. I have moved servers before with SAN replication. But all of them have been data drives/file systems on non-virtual hardware with local boot drives. That process involves using volume group mapfiles...etc. My question is how is this done with a Vpar that boots from SAN?
Thank you
V

Re: Moving and RX8640 to a new datacenter need help with Vpars
This could be a bit difficult.
First I would enter EFI and set the efiscanlevel to 1 to enable a deep SAN search. Once you found a boot disk, boot into nPar mode in LVM maintenance mode, export and import vg00 to reflect the path change. Then modify all boot settings of the vpars to the changed paths.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
