Your Guide to Day 1 at HPE Discover 2018: Must-See IoT Content
Al Madden,
HPE IoT Marketing
Just as it did last year, the Internet of Things will feature prominently this year at our flagship technology event HPE Discover 2018 Las Vegas, coming up June 19–21. We’ll present more than 40 IoT-related sessions exploring the many ways that organizations are turning data into action – whether it’s on the race track, in refineries, in electrical grid facilities, or in agricultural fields. We’ll be showcasing 18 IoT partner sessions, covering technologies as diverse as asset performance management systems, streaming analytics, video analytics, and augmented reality.
To help you plan your agenda for the event, I’ll be posting day-by-day IoT content guides at this blog. You can find the complete, searchable Discover content catalog here, and I recommend you to book a seat at these sessions that will fill up fast:
AI-powered, big data analytics: From the manufacturing edge-to-core (Session ID: DF5045 – Tuesday, 09:00 a.m. to 09:30 a.m.) Join Bruce King, Principle Data Scientist at Seagate Technology, and HPE Senior Enterprise Architect Rajesh Vijayarajan as they discuss how Seagate is using artificial intelligence to collect, manage and accurately respond to data from manufacturing processes. This is a great opportunity to learn how manufacturers can minimize defects from raw materials through to finished goods by leveraging a next-gen, edge-to-core manufacturing analytics platform.
HPE’s supply chain digital transformation: Using digital manufacturing technologies to flow data across the value chain (B4846 – Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.) Hear how HPE is mining its own data across internal functions and external manufacturing operations to accelerate time-to-market and drive supply-demand efficiencies. George Sypher, HPE Global Operations Digital Enablement and Innovation, will explain how an edge-to-core digital foundation can help companies meet production deadlines and ensure that the right products get to the right markets at the right time.
The network edge: Platforms for business innovation (T6300 – Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.) Edge computing is helping companies in many verticals to improve their service capabilities, optimize TCO and reduce latency. Wei Yeang Toh, Technical Marketing Engineer Manager with HPE partner Intel, will provide an overview of edge computing’s market dynamics, use models and core technologies. Learn how the network edge enables you to deploy IT resources with precision, when and where they’re needed.
Gaining intelligence from the edge: An panel discussion featuring Tesla, Comcast and Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 (PNL4857 – Tuesday, 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.) This is a customer spotlight session exploring how edge technologies can help organizations act on IoT data. HPE’s Dr. Tom Bradicich, VP and GM for Servers, Converged Edge, and IoT Systems, will be joined by experts from Tesla, Comcast, and Alfa Romeo Sauber F1. They’ll explore edge-to-cloud and IoT architectures, analytics, and the need for connecting, computing and controlling at the Intelligent Edge. Join this panel discussion to learn how to harvest the real-time value of your data.
Securing the enterprise in the IoT era (B5119 – Tuesday, 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.) IoT devices are not designed and installed with security in mind; they often lack even the most basic protections. Larry Lunetta, VP of Security Marketing with Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company, will describe how Aruba security solutions compensate for these shortcomings. Learn how device discovery, profiling and policy-based authorization from Aruba ClearPass and IntroSpect can help you detect compromises and attacks.
All this and demos too!
Whatever your IoT focus, you’ll find no lack of sessions to interest you at HPE Discover 2018 Las Vegas. But you’ll want to make sure you keep some time in your schedule to stop by the 20 IoT demos, too. Immerse yourself in the technology that drives our customers’ success. For more on the IoT demos, see these posts: 4 IoT and Edge Compute Demos You Won’t Want to Miss at HPE Discover 2018 and From IoT Data to Business Value with Analytics: Explore the HPE Discover 2018 demos.
