problem with connecting to HP servers
We have some HP servers and sun servers.and we are connecting to those servers through "exceed" windows based graphics emulation software. It was working with out any problem, but now we are able to connect sun servers but not HP servers.(i.e when we connect to sun server we will get login screen immd.but when we connect to HP server we will get login screen after some time. Some server we are not getting connected)
All Sun machines are in an NIS domain and all HP machines are in different NIS domain each having its own NIS Master and slave servres.
We are able to telnet and rlogin to those machines but not through Exceed.
OS: HP UX 10.20
All machines are applied with latest patches.
Thanks in advance

Re: problem with connecting to HP servers
Also are you trying direct XDMCP connect or an XDMCP Broadcast via Exceed ?
You best bet at the moment is to go into Exceed, Xconfig, Trouble-shooting and check Exceed.log and also run a Trace (config'd in the same GUI window) and get some more clues, if you see a load of errors relating to fonts, dt-interface imparticularly I'd setup a font server on the HP's and point Exceed to use : more info on this forum's database : If not post the info in the log file ....
hope this helps

Re: problem with connecting to HP servers
We are using switch between the system but i don't think that problem with switch because sun systems are working fine.
yes,we tried to connect direct XDMCP and XDMCP Broadcast. When we try to connect using "direct XDMCP" we will get error message as follows
XDMCP REQUEST HAS TIMED OUT
When we trid to connect using XDMCP Broadcast,it takes long time (1/2 hour) to list HP servers name.
exceed.log as follows:-

Re: problem with connecting to HP servers
If CDE's dtlogin is running on the box: you could try editting the /usr/dt/config/Xconfig, take a look at the Dtlogin*OpenTimeout resource : I think the default is 30 secs, check man dtlogin to be sure ,but maybe worth increasing this to 500 or more, however it's more of a work-around than a fix ?

Re: problem with connecting to HP servers
response was very slow. After that we found that the default gateway is the
problem that was the difference between our sun and hp servers. Pls check
the default gateway.
