Compaq Fibre Channel SAN switch/8

This thing is giving me a headache....It keeps failing post and comes up with the errors

NVRAM is invalid and that the ethernet address is also invalid

then it comes up with a thing saying use "N" to change the ethernet address but everything i try comes up as invalid
