Firmware Update on FC-Switch 2/8V
I'll update the firmware on my SAN Switch 2/8V to the version 4.4.0b. So I have downloaded the zip file on the HP-webpage, wich contains the firmware.
I read the install hint on the HP-webpage. I should place the firmware on a ftp server and I should load the firmware from there. For this I should give a path to the file "release.plist" which contains the rpm file list for the update.
But in the unpacked folder are a lot of other folders as "SWBD10", "SWBD12" .... In each folder are locate a file "release.plist". They are not identical.
Which folder I should use for my switch?
Thanks for help
Rainer

Re: Firmware Update on FC-Switch 2/8V
One of the things I try to do is place the firmware package right at the root of the ftp site (temporarily of course), then run firmwaredownload.
When it prompts you for the ftp location...
just enter "release.plist".
The switch automatically knows which directory to go to. I can attach a screenshot later on as I will be doing this on 4 switches.

Re: Firmware Update on FC-Switch 2/8V
the -n is so that the redundant firmware partition does not autocommit after I restart the switch. It is not needed if you do not expect to go back to your working firmware.
The "xxx"'s obviously get replace with your pertinent information.

Re: Firmware Update on FC-Switch 2/8V
The -s puts it into Single CP mode You will be asked if you want to autocommit and reboot before the command starts the download....
XXXXXXXXXX:admin> firmwaredownload -s
Server Name or IP Address: xx.xx.xx.xx
User Name: xxxx
File Name: release.plist
Password:
Do Auto-Commit after Reboot
Reboot system after download
