How to enable failover in W2K8
We have a DL385 G1 server running W2K8 with a HP StorageWorks PCI-X 2Gb Dual Port Host Bus Adapter that is connected to a Promise M500f RAID. We have installed the Multipath I/O feature included with W2K8. We would like to enable failover to this RAID. Can someone provide the necessary steps to enable it? We have done this before on this exact hardware configuration using Linux; therefore, I know that it should be doable. Thanks in advance.

Re: How to enable failover in W2K8
For MPIO to work in Windows you need to do 3 things:
1) Install the MPIO Feature
2) Install a Device Specific Module that is provided by your storage vendor.
3) Configure MPIO to use the DSM you installed.
I'm not familiar with the Promise storage system you're using, but in order to use MPIO you will need to get a DSM from them.

Re: How to enable failover in W2K8
Michael,
Thanks for the information. I guess if Promise Technology can't provide a DSM, we won't be able to take advantage of the MPIO. Is that correct?
Regards,
Carlton
