SAN Bandwidth

Hi, I am currently writing a strategy paper for our company with regard to recommending a SAN. We are looking at implementing a dual datacentre model (Live and DR) with synchronous replication between sites.
Would anybody be able to advise me;
A) What is the maximim distance that can be cosidered between the two sites.
B) What is the minimum bandwidth that I should be considering for the links between the sites. I have undertaken some research which suggests that I should be looking at 100mb at an absolute minumum. Ideally 1gb.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
