StorageWorks Network Storage Router question

The following devices are connected to a SAN switch:
- SAN StorageWorks Network Storage Router
- one SDLT on SCSI bus 0
- one DLT on SCSI bus 1
- Server #1 (Windows 2000)
- Server #2 (Windows 2000)
- Server #3 (NetWare 5.1)

The result we would like to achieve:
- both Server #1 and Server #2 should be able to handle (in shared mode) SDLT only
- Server #3 should be able to handle DLT only

We tried to configure this:

1. We kept the default configuration:
- all servers are able to handle (in shared mode) both DLT and SDLT
- this is not the desired result

2. We configured custom maps:
- Custom Map #1
- enables access to SDLT only
- is assigned to Server #1 and Server #2
- Custom Map #2
- enables access to DLT only
- is assigned to Server #3
Concerning DLT, the result is O.K.
Concerning SDLT:
- only Server #1 and Server #2 are able to handle it - that is O.K.
- Server #1 and Server #2 don't handle it in shared mode: one of the servers locks it so the other server can't perform any operations on it

The backup software we are using is BrightStor ARCserve Backup V9.01 with SAN Option.

Can somebody please tell us what is the solution? Thanks!

Re: StorageWorks Network Storage Router question

When a tape is shared between several hosts, the Backup software have to manage the access to it, you have to check in the backup configuration why two hosts are accessing device at the same time.
