LH4 running SUSE8 - Health Agents available?
Hi there,
iam currently running SUSE8.0 on my LH4R and ask me if there is a Health-Agents Package available as for the Proliance Servers?
Or is there a other way to get the following realized:
1. At Power fault my USV starts, but only for 15mins. The Server is connected via Serial Cable to the USV. How to securely shutdown Server when USV Time has come?
2. How to get to the Eventlog which is displayed at the Fontpanel?
Any hints would be fine.
Kind regards,
Frank

Re: LH4 running SUSE8 - Health Agents available?
HP SNMP agents are available for the Netserver LH4/LH4r and a variety of Linux versions, including SuSe 7.2 & 7.3. But unfortunately not SuSe 8.0. All the available Netserver agents are located on this web page:
http://www.hp.com/toptools/download/server_agents.html
The HP Event Log can be accessed from either the front panel LCD or by booting from the HP Navigator CD.
MIB files are available from the same web page, including nsaevent.mib for the HP event log.
What kind of USV do you have? Does it include any software?

Re: LH4 running SUSE8 - Health Agents available?
A APC Smart-UPS 3000 with a serial connection to the server is connected to the HP LH4R.
I downloaded the agt_suse73_553_e package as well as the sources to compile the missing mmcdev driver but with the kernel 2.4.18-64GB-SMP i get errors.
when will be a package available for suse 8.0?
Kind regards,
Frank

Re: LH4 running SUSE8 - Health Agents available?
Have you checked the TopTools home page? Please see this web page:
http://www.hp.com/toptools/
"The HP Toptools product has been discontinued as of December 31, 2002. Our last release is version 5.6 which we will continue to make available for download only; CD's will not be orderable. Please note as customary at HP support will be available through our customer care centers for 5 years following the discontinue date or until December 31, 2007."
Do you have any other computers running on a APC UPS? Running a different software version? If compatible with the APC software, it can be used to notify the LH4r by using a Setup Run Command. The APC web site includes the supported OS versions for the APC Power Chute Business Edition:
http://www.apc.com/products/family/index.cfm?id=125
For more information on this option, contact APC at 800-800-4272
