Samba issue not able to join in domain
I am trying to add new samba server as Windows_domain_member_server, but getting below error. Please suggest how can i troubleshoot.
Enter the Domain Controller Administrator's user name
or hit enter to accept this default.
(Administrator):
You have entered the following.
Domain: xx.xx
Primary Domain Controller: xx.xx.xx.xx
Backup Domain Controller/s:
Administrator: Administrator
Is this correct?
(Y or N)? : y
Configuring HP CIFS Server,
in xx.xx with domain level authentication.
This may take a moment...
Attempting to join the domain xx.xx...
Unable to find a suitable server
Unable to find a suitable server
An error occurred in the join command!
Copied file /etc/opt/samba/smb.conf as /etc/opt/samba/smb.conf.try.13065.
Make sure the HP CIFS Server (NetBIOS) name was added to the
domain and that the domain name, Primary Domain Controller name,
administrator and password were entered correctly.
Would you like to try the join command again?
(Y or N)? : n

Satish

Check your firewall. One possible cause would be blocking the NETBIOS traffic.

Re: Samba issue not able to join in domain
Being able to ping PDC and being on the same VLANs is not enough information to be sure that your setup would work. Samba needs to be opened the NETBIOS ports. Check for 139 and 445 to be opened.

Re: Samba issue not able to join in domain
Port 139 and 445 are open, i am able to telnet to these IP address. One strange thing i am obeserving while system tries to conect domain controller its asking me to enter user account but not asking for password.
Do you think its normal, or is there any step i am missing here.
My machine is already added in AD or a machine account is created already on domain controller server.
