Serial using my LAN-port

Hi Guru's!

Ive got one of those fancy new laptops, with no serial port. I wonder if there is any Windows-software out there, that would let my laptop's NIC connect, with a serial cable, to what-ever-I-need, ie a unix-server console?

The idea would be to have some sort of software running, and having a cable with RJ45 connected to my PC, and the other end being a std RS232-like thingie, connecting the latter to whatever needed console.

Is there software for that kind of thing out there?

Thanx in advance.

I think you would be looking at serial > usb rather than serial > rj45

something like this should work http://www.clove.co.uk/viewproduct.aspx?product=1293A27E-B423-4149-9376-CF53D9C76DEE
