My company has two VPNs setup. We are running Tcp/Ip
I can ping the remote printer but when I try and setup the queue on the server,
it says it cannot find the printer. Anyone have any suggestions??

Re: Remote Printing from NT 4.0
Ted,
I need a bit more info on the situation. What steps are you doing to create
this printer queue? Is this a printer attached to a HP Jet direct card or is
this a printer that is shared on a remote PC? Are you using the MS TCP/IP
Printing or Jet Admin?

Re: Remote Printing from NT 4.0
Gerard,
The printer has a jet direct card. I have tried using jet admin to find the
remote printer, with no success. I can ping the remote printer with no problem,
but when I go and try and setup a queue using Nt4.0 w/ New Port ( Hp Jetdirect
Port), it cannot find the printer.
the printer is setup on a peer to peer network running tcp/ip. Any help will
be appreciated.

Re: Remote Printing from NT 4.0
Ted,
I'll assume that since you can ping the JetDirect card, you have pretty good
connectivity across your VPN. I'm going to guess that when your adding your HP
JetDirect port, it is not showing up in the Printer List. In order to get
around this, select the Manually specify printer and manually input the TCP/IP
address. This should work unless your VPN is configured a certain way.
Good Luck,
