Python on VMS

I just discovered that folks are using Python on openVms. Could someone point me to URL(s) for obtaining binaries or source appropriate for openVms 7.3-2?

Re: Python on VMS

And a more general answer to the "where can I get...?" question...

Check the OpenVMS FAQ.

The FAQ contains pointers to all sorts of stuff. New pointers and updates and URL corrections are welcome.

Check the OpenVMS Freeware.

The Freeware is/was a common vehicle for freeware kits, packages, etc. There are multiple versions of the Freeware, and not a whole lot of overlap between the different Freeware releases. There are two Python ports on the most recent Freeware; on Freeware V8.0. http://h71000.www7.hp.com/freeware/freeware80/ The Freeware can trail the actual release, as it has traditionally shipped with OpenVMS and not been revised as individual packages are upgraded. But even that can give you a clue where to look for new(er) kits.

And for Python:

Check the Python site, as Ian indicates.

Ports of Python, Perl, Ruby, Tcl/TK and various other languages and tools and scripting packages are available for OpenVMS.
