Quick NFS query
Hi Folks,
Got a requirement through from the customer that all NFS should use TCP/IP rather than UDP for the connections (I'm dealing with both client and server). I was happy enough to let the protocol decide which was best but the customer wants to gurantee the more reliable connection.
Can this be achieved using TCPIP Services for OpenVMS?
On another note does the OpenVMS NFS client support V3 yet?
cheers
Brian

Re: Quick NFS query
TCPIP V5.5 (current version) still has the NFS V2 client.
According to the VMS roapmap presentation slide 36 NFS enhancements are scheduled for the next version due in the middle of next year.

Re: Quick NFS query
Ian,
The middle of next year was june 2006.
Now the NFS client is still V2.
When will it be NFS Client V3 in TCPIP Services?

Re: Quick NFS query
TCPIP V5.6 which was released last year (with OpenVMS V8.3) did include NFS enhancements.
Release Notes
http://h71000.www7.hp.com/doc/83FINAL/tcprn/tcp_rnpro.html
I noticed in 3.7.2 NFS Client Problems and Restrictions
"The NFS client included with TCP/IP Services uses the NFS Version 2 protocol only."
So no NFS V3 client yet. You are best contacting the HP product manager for TCPIP Services.
