What is UNIVMA license for

Stupid question. We have on some old servers
an UNIVMA license issued by CA. I know it is for
some kind of Polycenter product, does anyone know for what product exactly?

I want to do some cleaning up, and I suspect
it's only there because it needs a clean up.

My guess is "Management Agent". They seem to have used this name before:

Simple way to find out... turn it off and see what screams:

Add this early in your system startup:

$ LICENSE UNLOAD UNIVMA
$ DEFINE/SYSTEM/EXEC LMF$DISPLAY_OPCOM_MESSAGE TRUE

On your terminal:

$ REPLY/ENABLE=LICENSE

and/or search your OPERATOR.LOGs for UNIVMA to see if anything wanted to use it. Correlate with any complaints of things breaking.

Note, make sure you
$ DEASSIGN/SYSTEM/EXEC LMF$DISPLAY_OPCOM_MESSAGE

after this experiment. It's not a good idea to leave it enabled, as you're likely to get lots of false alarms.

The license UNIVMA is for Computer Associates Unicenter TNG for OpenVMS Management Agent product. You will also need a UNIVMS license to make full use of the software suite since UNIVMS is for the management server. The former Digital Polycenter products were purchased by Computer Associates and then licensed in a bundle under the Unicenter TNG name.
The products are now marketed under the family name "CA OpenVMS Systems Management solutions".

Thanks you all. Of course I applied the scream method before I asked, the problem was I found nothing that screamed :-).

As we have installed since the Polycenter stuff about 4 other monitoring packages, I will disable/remove these licenses.
