Re: backup
the TLZ07 supports a maximum density of DDS2, whilst the TLZ10 supports DDS3.
The /DENSITY qualifier is used to indicate the density which the tape drive should apply when writing. It does not apply to the cartridge.
Regrettably, I do not have the luxury of DDS4 tapes to check out whether the TLZ07/TLZ10 drives will even accept a DDS4 cartride. I know that some of the old TLZ drives would not even physically accept a DDS3 cartridge.

SolutionTLZ10 recognize tape cartridge. You can just use /MEDIA=COMP to compress data.
You have to use /DENS qualifier if device is not able to recognize tape.

Re: backup
I would suggest to use the correct type of medium supported by your DAT device and to use the correct /DENSITY parameter.
If you use DDS3/DDS4 media in TLZ06 or older DAT devices, they or the media may get damaged, modern tapes are longer/thinner.
Btw. DDS3 is much cheaper than DDS4 e.g.
