How to print a tru64 file from a printer attached to Windows box

Hi admins,

I am having a dotmatrix printer which is attached tothe LPT1 port of Window 2000 Professional based machine. This machine is able to print the documents using this printer.

Now, I have to create a print queue on Tru64 server (which is located on some other subnet and is on intranet), so that Tru64 server fires a print pointing to the Windows2k box and it gets printed using the dot matrix printer. Please be aware that my Tru64 server and the windows 2000 machine are in different subnet. Please suggest some wayout to configure this. Whether I should use remote printing or TCP printing? If possible, with example. I am more worried about port (because uptil now I know that in Tru64 we have printer ports like text/text1/pr/pr5/pr6/raw/raw1).

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,
Vikas

Re: How to print a tru64 file from a printer attached to Windows box

simplest method is to use a printserver box and it is the professional one.

Second method is to install a lpd print service on your w2k box or to use an pcnfs implementation on the windows side.

Use google to search for lpd services for windows.
