Unable to ping host from guest and guest from host
Hi All,
I am new to Vmware, I installed Vmserver 2.0.2 on Windows 7 enterprise. I created new VM as guest RHEL and assigned a IP to work with Oracle RAC.
I am able to access VM machine and console with Vmware web access 2.0.0.
I assigned IP 192.168.2.101 to the RHEL VM ( Guest machine ). I tried using Bridge and NAT network configuration. but I am unable to ping or access this VM from host.
My Host Windows 7 is on office network with DHCP enabled. Some how some IPs are assigned to VMnet1 and VMnet8. My doubts are
1. Whar are these Vmnet1 Vmnet0 and Vmnet8 ; are they create by default?
2. And by default Vmware assignes any IPs to Vmnet1 and Vmnet8.
3. Whats the basic requirement or change required to access this machine via Putty. So that I can install required RPMs.
My Host IP is DHCP IP and IPs of Vmnet1 and Vmnet 8 are 192.168.139.1 and 192.168.29.1.
Thanks in advance
Regards
Vinod

Re: Unable to ping host from guest and guest from host
Try to disable Windows 7 firewall or change it to allow ICMP traffic
