HP dvd640i w/ Light Scribe

At PC start up the tray will open,sometimes halfway and then close with a thud, and at other times stay open. After that the tray will not open via the button on the drive or through the software for burning a CD. I have done the update "QS12." This problem occured well after that change. Add/Remove as well as reinstalling the original driver made no change.

Additionaly if I do manage to get a CD in the drive and attempt to burn it or erase (RW) it I get the message indicating that there is not a disk in the drive. The drive is a year and a half old and seen less that 100 cds to date. No DVDs yet. ??????
