How to get Model and S/N of a jukebox??
Hi gurus!
I have 6 jukeboxs connected to a HP-UX server, each one connected with 2 SCSI cards. How can I obtain the model and the S/N of each junkebox?
Thanks in advance

Re: How to get Model and S/N of a jukebox??
Hi,
new models provide their serial number via the data or web connection. Just use LTT or the web-interface to get it.
Older models doesn't, so you must read it from the chassis.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: How to get Model and S/N of a jukebox??
mc -q -p will return the inquiry data which is as close as you can come to the model information without checking the label on the library. There are a lot of models with subtle differences that map to a single product ID so that may not give you all the informaton you need.
Most of the libraries will report their serial number of SCSI in inquiry VPD page 0x80 but there is no built in command on HP-UX to read that page so unless you have an application that can read it there isn't an easy solution.
There are a number of utilities floating around that can read the serial number. You might find one with a web search.
