Problems with 16X DVD+R on GCA-4040N on nw8000

Is there any firmware update available on the GCA-4040N DVD writer supplied with the nw8000? There appears to be an issue writing and reading from/to 16X +R media. LG has released updates for many of their products to fix this issue, but I have not come across a fix for the GCA-4040N . Memorex has an "attention to DVD drive owners" on their packs of 16X dvd's relating to this issue and firmware updates.

Peter,

There is some F/W for the drive on this site -> http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php

However it would appear that is specifically for a Dell OEM model.

However you may have more luck on the forum on rpc1.org
