Differences between trunk types on a HP5412

Hello,

Someone could help me to understand the differences between trunk's type:

Trunk

LACP

dt-lacp

dt-trunk

My network use to work with VLAN.

I would link to create a trunk between my 2 HP5412 using 2 interfaces on each.

Thancks for your help.

Re: Differences between trunk types on a HP5412

Trunk is somewhat fuzzy.  Some call an interface carying multiple VLANs a trunk, others use the term trunk for bundling of multiple physical connections into al logical pipe...having aggregated bandwidth.

This bundling can be assigned manually, or use a control protocol that negotiates this dynamically: LACP

The DT variants are just cases where the trunk isn't terminated on single switch, but on multiple switches instead. You won't need it

Trunk means each bonded pair of interfaces will operate independently.

LACP means each pair of interfaces use a standards-based protocol to chat to each other.

You can use either, it doesn't matter - what you are doing is pretty simple.
