Adding 2 physical disks to running server DL380 Gen9
Hi,
I just added 2 disks to a running server HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 (vmware host), but they do not show up in the ILO hardware overview, and also in the hpssacli utility they don't show up.
The controller is P440
Do I need to reboot the server for the disks to become visible/usable ?
Thanks

Re: Adding 2 physical disks to running server DL380 Gen9
Hi KoenH,
Please check with following command if drive is reported as unassigned, depends on the OS version
Rescan for New Devices
ESXi 5.5 -> /opt/hp/hpssacli/bin/hpssacli rescan
ESXi 6.5 -> /opt/smartstorageadmin/ssacli/bin/ssacli rescan
Physical disk status
ESXi 5.5 -> /opt/hp/hpssacli/bin/hpssacli ctrl slot=0 pd all show status
ESXi 6.5 -> /opt/smartstorageadmin/ssacli/bin/ssacli ctrl slot=0 pd all show status
Show detailed physical disk information
ESXi 5.5 -> /opt/hp/hpssacli/bin/hpssacli ctrl slot=0 pd all show detail
ESXi 6.5 -> /opt/smartstorageadmin/ssacli/bin/ssacli ctrl slot=0 pd all show detail
# esxcli –server=”servername or IP” –user=”username” –password”root password”
ssacli cmd -q “controller slot=0 show config detail”
Incae still drive not detected then restart the server and check in SSA offline utility.
Please feel free to log a support case with HPE for any further assistance in this case by ( chat & toll free number)
Thanks & Regards,
