Adding second processor to 1600R, VRM question
I would like to add a second PII 450 processor to my Proliant 1600R server. The first processor is using Processor Power Module (VRM) 327660-001 (same as 327563-001). I have another PII 450 processor with the same step code and I have a VRM number 299306-001 that came out of a Proliant 3000. The VRM specs seem to be the same as the 327660 module. Can I use the 299306-001 VRM with the second processor or will this not work?

Re: Adding second processor to 1600R, VRM question
Hello Alan,
The P/N 327660-001 is for the CPU's from 400 MHZ to 450MHz whereas the other one is for 300 MHz to 333 MHz and the specs are as follows: 5-12V, 5-bit (300 and 333) 299306-001. Surely it will work in the begining but how long will it last that only time can tell since it will heat up due to the higher speed CPU i.e. PII 450MHz.
Regards,

Thank you for the answer. That is exactly what I needed to know.
