CPQ/HP CL2 ECC Module 110958-032

Can someome identify this module for me (I think it's CL2, ECC, PC100, but noit sure of reg/non-reg), and/or point me to a tech document on the site that gives the list of HP/Compaq machines it is intended to run in? I thought a site search on this part number would get me something, but nada...

DESCRIPTION


Certain Compaq ProLiant servers contain Assembly Number 110958-022 (64 Mega-bit/100 MHz, Registered, Synchronous, CAS Latency 2) Dual Inline Memory Module (DIMM). Because of a lack of availability of this DIMM, the Spare Part Number 170514-001 for a replacement DIMM is being eliminated.

Newly configured systems and all spare parts and option kits are using DIMM Assembly Number 110958-032, which is built using 128-Mb Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM).

IMPORTANT: All DIMMs within a server logical bank must be replaced with the same DIMM configuration. Otherwise, the system will experience the following POST failure:

"207- INVALID MEMORY CONFIGURATION - BANK X (where X is a logical bank number)"


PRODUCTS AFFECTED


This issue affects any Compaq ProLiant 8000, ProLiant 8500, ProLiant DL580 and ProLiant ML570, server using DIMMs with Assembly Number 110958-022.

IMPORTANT: Compaq QuickSpecs indicate support on several systems for DIMMs Assembly Number 110958-022, including the Compaq ProLiant 8000, ProLiant 8500, ProLiant DL580 and ProLiant ML570. However, only the Compaq ProLiant 8000 and the ProLiant 8500 servers were shipped with these DIMMs installed in the system or in option kits that support those systems. It is possible that a customer could move four of these DIMMs that originated in a system, such as the ProLiant 8500, into a ProLiant DL580. Since QuickSpecs indicate support of DIMMs Assembly Number 110958-022 in both the Proliant DL580 and ProLiant ML570 systems, this would have been an allowable usage of the lower capacity DIMMs.


RESOLUTION/SOLUTION


To resolve this issue in the event a DIMM Assembly Number 110958-022 has failed in a system, all memory modules in that logical bank should be replaced with Spare Part Number 146489-001.


SERVICE ACTION


For systems with multi-DIMM interleaving, all DIMMs within a logical bank must be matched. When a single DIMM fails, remove all the DIMMs Assembly Number 110958-022 located in the logical bank with the failing DIMM. Replace them with DIMM Assembly Number 110958-032 to maintain consistency within that bank. Multiple orders of Spare Part Number 146489-001 will be needed, since each kit contains only one DIMM. Also, if the original Spare Part Number 170514-001 is ordered, Spare Part Number 146489-001 will automatically be substituted.

IMPORTANT: If the DIMMs within another logical bank within the same system are Assembly Number 110958-022, but are not failing, do not replace them at this time. Also, in the event a failing DIMM is Assembly Number 110958-032, only the failing DIMM needs to be replaced, since the replacement spare part will be the correct configuration.

NOTE: Refer to the Maintenance & Service Guide or the Setup and Installation Guide of any affected Compaq server for specific information and instructions on adding memory to that server.
