DDR-3 speed issue
Its a DDR-3 PC3 10600R 1333, who runs at 1066.
Installed in a G6-server which is brand new.
Is there a way to change the FSB-Mem ratio on server BIOS ?
Please advise anyone :-)
Thanks!

Re: DDR-3 speed issue
The speed 1333 is supported setting in ROM based setup utility (RBSU).
Please refer page 20-21 in the below documnet:

Re: DDR-3 speed issue
1. Processor - Requires a 95 watt processor
2. Memory installed - Incorrect memory confguration will slow the bus down
3. BIOS setting allowing support for the 8Gb modules.
See the following quickspec for a rought idea about the memory possiblities

Cheers

Re: DDR-3 speed issue
With the new G6 platform and the DDR3 there are som new rules as mentioned above.
I'm not exactly sure but I think the clockspeed depends on how many DIMMS you have installed in a channel.
If you populate 1 channel with DIMMs you have 1333MHz
If you populate 2 channels with DIMMs you have 1066MHz
If you populate 3 channels with DIMMs you have 800MHz
check out HP's DDR3 config tool to get the right config.

Re: DDR-3 speed issue
2 x X5550 Proc. with (12x8GB)= 96GB RAM
So there is only 1 way to config the memory as far as I can see.
Any ideas?
Thanks again.
