DL580 memory problems
Hi, I'm sure this is an easy one for some of you.
I got 2 DL580 g4 servers that I have bought 2 8 gb kit to each server. At the moment I got this memory configuration:
First Memory Board (slots)
1 2 3 4
1 GB 1 GB 0 GB 0 GB
Second Memory Board (Slots)
1 2 3 4
1 GB 1 GB 0 GB 0 GB
Optional Third Memory Board (Slots)
1 2 3 4
4 GB 4 GB 0 GB 0 GB
Optional Fourth Memory Board (Slots)
1 2 3 4
4 GB 4 GB 0 GB 0 GB
I hav tried to insert the to kits at diffrent places but it wn't work. Is there some kind of configuration in BIOS. The BIOS is telling me that it's inserted in the wrong order or something like that. Could someone tell me where it should be inserted?

Re: DL580 memory problems
There are certain guidelines to install memory in the server, let's try to make it a checklist and see how the current configuration stands:
1. DIMMs must be installed in pairs >> PASSED.
2. DIMM pairs within a memory bank must contain DIMMs with the same part number >> CHECK.
3. Always populate the DIMMs in sequential order per bank: Bank A and then Bank B >> PASSED.
4. Always populate the memory boards in sequential order: Board 1, Board 2, Board 3, and Board 4 >> PASSED.
5. Dual-rank DIMMs must be populated before single-rank DIMMs >> CHECK.
For information about Dual-Rank & Single-Rank - check the server user guide:

PS. Sorry about the long reply. :)
