Re: G10 SPP 2021.04.0 create on usb key utility 3.0 can't boot

I had this same problem, using the same usb drives that previously contained 2020.09.0 & worked just fine. 2021.04.0 would just boot to grub. I enabled legacy boot & it would boot fine, and would complete normally in manual install, but automatic (guided) mode seemed to work, but would hang at the very end, on the final inventory (just before a normal reboot would occur).

It works also with the SPP P45316_001_gen10spp-2021.10.0-SPP2021100.2021_1012.13

I suggest to disconnect all others USB also KVM.

Thank you FezUSA

Re: G10 SPP 2021.04.0 create on usb key utility 3.0 can't boot

I have an HPE SimpliVity DL380 Gen10.

I'm using SVTSP-2022_1021.02.iso which was booting to grub prompt and HPE USBKey Utility would not write to USBKey even when mounting ISO to Windows.

Here is what I did:

1.  Format USBKey 32GB or Less Fat32

2.  Export contents of ISO to USBKey

3.  Copy the file "system\initrd.img" to root folder on USB key.

4.  Copy the file "system\initrd.img.sig" to root folder on USB key.

5.  Copy the file "system\vmlinuz" to root folder on USB key.

6.  Copy the file "system\vmlinuz.sig" to root folder on USB key.

7.  Delete "efi\boot\grub.cfg" on the USB key.

8.  Rename "efi\boot\grub_usb.cfg" to "grub.cfg".

Re: G10 SPP 2021.04.0 create on usb key utility 3.0 can't boot

@FezUSA Since you tried it some times, you probably figured. The fastest load time to run spp and firmware upgrades is which?

1) through a bootable usb (you did mention to use usb3 key and back ports, no ports on BL460c Gen9 though so what about usb2) or

2) through ilo virtual media and HTML5 KVM or

3) through virtual media using integrated remote console (internet explorer and BL460c Gen9 ilo) ?

My experience was that the Html5 interface and virtual media took maybe 2 hours to load windows 2016 setup initialize screen, god knows how much spp will take. So i guess the Maybe its my network setup through vlans and firewalls and a possible 100 Mbps uplink but maybe its just low HTML5 performance?

And one more important note.  The utility only works with Windows 10 and not Windows 11.  I had to use an old laptop with Win10 to run the utility and was then able to boot from the USB key and succesfully run the updater from the key.
