HD compatibility for Proliant 3000R / 500 Server

Hello,
There is some issue about install a Compaq 1.6" 18 GB SCSI HD in this server?
I put a original Compaq HD (Hot Plug/10k/18GB/1.6" Model HC0183172A Serial LKY56216) and he failed on start, in any of seven internal slot, but i´m sure that HD is ok.
I have four internal 1" HDs running in this machine and all works good, in any slot. The fail occurs in the startup, when the server try to Spinning Up the HD.
I'm check the compatibility list, and i´m not sure what I can´t do to solve this.
My server is a SIMPLEX configuration.

THat drive may not be supported anymore. Why would you not purchase new drives?
