ML350 G3 doesn't power off

Hi,

Our Proliant ML 350 G3 has developed a very strange issue: even when i shutdown the system (Windows 2003 Srv R2) it doesn't power off, it restarts!

Since this unit is 4/5 years old, and i only noticed this issue a few months ago, i was blaming some sw issue.

However yesterday we did a complete disassemble of the server, wipe everything, reinstall from scratch W2003 SRV R2 but ... same behavior.

Apart from this everything seems to be working quite well.

Can anyone help?

I suppose when you say shutdown you use the normal mode using windows not pressing power button... right?

OK let me ask you since you rebuilt server.

1. what if the Firmware CD you used? to update firmware? 8.0, 8.1 version?

2. what is the Proliant support pack? 8.0?

3. what is the server's configuration?
how many DIMMS?
PCI Cards?
Storage devices?

4. does the server the same in safe mode? same behavior restarts?
