Hi,
there was server ML530 have booting problem, we diagnosed that there might be an 5i CONTROLLER issue, we have reseated it, change the slot, change the SCSI cable, but didn't resolve the problem. and then change the controller Part Number: 226874-001. it resolves the booting issue but with an error during POST.
1783-Slot 8 drive array controller failure
[unsupported flash rom type installed]
after pressing F1, server boot normally, all firmware execpt controller cause its not been updated with new one but still have this problem. it generates error in hp update manager log.
"program stat
suspending controllers background task error in flash operation, return code. resuming controllers background task...
error resuming controller background task, return code = 0, failure product 40820ell at controller position 0 with old version 2.58 has not been updated with new version 2.66
error : no controllers were flashed.
program end"
Please help to sort this problem.
regards,
raheel

Solution
ROM installation problem or
Array Accelerator board problem
If this message appears
immediately following a ROM
installation, the ROM is
defective or not installed
properly. Check that the
controller is firmly inserted in its
slot. Try upgrading the System
ROMs. Otherwise, replace the
Integrated Smart Array
Controller.
Download an ISO image for firmware maintenance CD, burn it and boot from it.
It will upgrade all firmware components inside your server, make shure your server is connected thru an UPS
