Mirroring Mode

I am having ML 370G4 Server. There are two SCSI 72.8 gb hard drives. One hard drive has failed. It started showing red blinking light. The fault tolerance mode is Mirroring. What exactly the mirroring mode does?? How can i replace the drive?

Re: Mirroring Mode

Mirroring mode = RAID 1.

Red failure LED flashing = Disk is degraded.

Red failure LED solid on = Disk has failed.

Replace procedure:
Pull out failed drive.
Waite 30 seconds.
Insert new drive. When you have closed the lever, do give it an extra push.

It will start rebuilding automatically, You will see the on-line led start falshing (The icon look like a can, and its the middel LED).

You do the replacement with the running.

If the drive is degraded. Do recheck the RAID setup. Use the ACU (Array Configuration Utility) or the SMH ( System Management Homepage)

You should ensure, that you got a good backup, and emergency restore plan, before replacing. Better safe than sorry.

Re: Mirroring Mode

Ok..thank you. And will i lose the data if the disk has failed?

Re: Mirroring Mode

No you will not loose data.

RAID 0. Disk failure will caurse data loss.
All other RAID's. Multible simultanious disk failure might/not caurse data loss.
