The best way is to update it to a more current version which uses OS authentication instead of built-in accounts/passwords.

Re: Password Recovery for HP System Management Home Page

thanks but the server is old and unstable. i'm migrating the data off it so i can decommison the box.
i won't fancy updating the software in case it all goes horribly wrong and i end up in mess.
i was wondering where the passwords are stored and is there anyway of viewing them?

Re: Password Recovery for HP System Management Home Page

Find another server that has the old-style account/password set up that has a known password. Copy the file CPQHMMO.ACL from that system to the target directory on the new system and restart the management agents.

Re: Password Recovery for HP System Management Home Page

You might try this, I've had success with some servers running older versions of the SMH. If you have a SIM server, run a "configure and repair agents" job on the server in question and change only the Administrator password. It should work if you have the client set up correctly and the SMH version of the client is 7.1 or earlier.
