Proliant dl385 with p600 controller

We bought DL385 with SAS controller p600 with 8 internal SAS disk but I see that we can connect also external drives. We'd like to connect external SATA disks for backup what should we buy.

The Quickspecs for P600 states:

Eight (8) SAS physical links distributed across 2 internal x4 wide port connectors and 1 external x4 wide port connector. One of the internal x4 wide port connector shares 4 physical links with the external x4 wide port connector. When the shared internal x4 wide port connector is in use, the shared external x4 wide port is disabled.

So you may want to validate above.

Does this means that we must buy HP StorageWorks MSA50 SAS enclosure and nothing else + I'm confused how to connect all 38 disks If we fill all 8 internal channel then external channel is disabled see( When the shared internal x4 wide port connector is in use, the shared external x4 wide port is disabled)
