RAID 1 to RAID 5

I have a tower ML350 G3 with Smart ARRAY 641 with 2 disk of 36Gb in RAID 1.

I want to know if is possible to convert RAID 1 to RAID 5 adding a new SCSI Hard Disk of 36Gb, and if it is possible how to proceed.

Can I use ACU soft??

Operating System is Windows 2000 Server

Thanks

Re: RAID 1 to RAID 5

Yes you can migrate from a raid 1 to a raid 5.

I'd recommend going into the array configuration utility, select "Configuration Wizards" on the right hand side, then select the option for "migrate a logical drive". Just walk through the wizard and once the configuration is saved it will start to restripe the information.
The truth is out there, but I forgot the URL..

Re: RAID 1 to RAID 5

No

Now RAID 1 has 2 harddisk without any partitions .. OS is Boot on it ...

I will to insert 1 new harddisk to convert RAID 1 to RAID 5 .. and then, next month or year, for example, insert new one ...

is this procedure ok ?

Re: RAID 1 to RAID 5

You can insert 1 drive then migrate to a raid 5. If you add another drive next year you won't be doing a migration, but a array expansion. This will allow you to add more space, but requires some more steps.
