Reboot while parity initialization
Hello,
i just created a new array with Smart Storage Administrator (Offline), which shows me it is "undergoing parity initialization" with a low percentage. I had choosen "Rapid", which was explained to me that the logical drive created will be avaiable afterwards. But since thats not the first but "Array B", my question is: Is it possible to reboot right now from Offline Smart Storage Administrator and the logical drive will appear as soon as possible?
Kind regards,
Udo

Re: Reboot while parity initialization
Hi,
Its not recommended to reboot or shutdown the server while its rebuilding raid or while parity initialization.
Thank You!

Re: Reboot while parity initialization
Just for info: Had to reboot 12hrs later. Initialization was at "1,37%" as of SSA then, like the 12hrs before. Software was not only reactive, but progress bar rotation was moving still. After reboot the new logical drive appeared, which is described to only happen if initialization completes.
Since that i assume this outdated Offline Smart Storage Administrator i would like to know how to update.
I have updated System ROM since then, without changes. And Smart Array Controller P440ar already was current. So where the hell this piece of software is coming from?
To have that said: I cannot use USB Offline Smart Storage Administrator, because that is, as of HPE docs, not compatible to the controller mentioned above.
Kind regards,
Udo

Re: Reboot while parity initialization
Hi,
Please refer the below links
Offline SSA : https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/swd/detail?swItemId=MTX_321a88714bff4279abf175b9bd
Intelligent Provisioning : https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/swd/detail?swItemId=MTX_f8b12eb6ec8b45cab4c628249a#tab-history
You can update the IP which will update the Offline SSA.
Thank you
