Red lights on hard in 2 X 1 bay
Just added the 2 X 1 drive cage and put 1 9.1GB ultra 2 7200 drive in it. The red drive fail light is on continuously. Tried another drive from the 4 X 1 that is known to work and it too gives the red drive fail light always on.
Did I mis-cable the drive cage?

Re: Red lights on hard in 2 X 1 bay
This is mis-cabled.
From your scsi port or Smart array controller plug this cable into the bottom of that 2X1 HP drive cage. Then use the point to point cable going from the top of the 2X1 drive cage to the 4x1 drive cage. There should also be a signal cable that goes between these 2 drive cages.

We are here for a good time, not a long time!

Re: Red lights on hard in 2 X 1 bay
Thanks for responding! I got the manuals in the mail overnight from Compaq/HP. Figured it out this morning.
I had attached the 2X1 to SCSI port #1 instead of daisy chaining through the SCSI 2 port to the 4X1 cage.
Now it works beautifully!!
Thanks
Duane
