Server wont reboot when issuing an init 6 or reboot

When using SuSE linux 7.1 with both the 2.4 & 2.2.18 kernels, the Compaq Proliant 800 Server won't perform a reset to bring the OS backup after receiving an "init 6" or "reboot" or "shutdown -r now" command.
The os handles the request fine, but once the Operating System & File systems are offline.. the machine just stays in a halted mode, and doesn't perform a reset to bring the operating system back up.
A manual power off & power on is necessary at this point to reboot.
This is from any runlevel.

Obviously this poses problems with running linux on this box as a server.

Take a look at http://www.compaq.com/products/servers/linux/OSMatrix1.html

The Proliant 800 is not certified for SUSE.

Re: Server wont reboot when issuing an init 6 or reboot

I have a bunch of DL380 G3s and G4s running RHEL 3. The "reboot" command does not work, "init 6" sometimes works, but "shutdown -r now" always does. No idea why. For better or worse, I have more pressing problems with these boxes, so I have not checked out why.
