I was wondering if it is possible to add HP 512MB P-Series Battery Backed Write Cache Upgrade (HP part # 462967-B21)without need to rebuild array.
Thank you,
Naz

Re: Smart array p410 upgrade
The BBWC is also called a write cache enabler.
HP do not allow write cache to be enabled, without backup battery.
The purpose for the battery, is to supply power the cache RAM, in case of power loss to the server, wich would caurse data loss, due to unwritten data i the cache.
It keep the cache powered, so it can hold the data.
