[UPDATED] Is it possible to use a RAID disk set from a G7 in a G5?
I have a system on a Proliant G5 using P400 SmartArray in a 0+1 configuration with 8x 3G 15K 72GB HDDs.
If I install the P410i RAID Drivers while on the G5, I can take the disks out and boot them on a Proliant DL380 G7. I can then rebuild half the array onto 4x new 6G 15K 146GB HDDs.
Should I be able to then boot the new 6G HDDs back in the G5?
I tried and it says that the disks are in the wrong order (they're not!)
[UPDATE] Putting the disks (which were in slots 1-4 in the G7) into slots 5-8 on the G5 booted successfully (with the RAID controller reporting a change of slot positions so it updated itself)
Any ideas on this? Is it a simple as wires round the wrong way?
